How to update Minecraft? (Java and Bedrock Edition)

To update Minecraft, one usually doesn't have to do anything. Minecraft updates automatically if an active internet connection is available, irrespective of it is on standby or in active use.

Updating Minecraft is required if one wants to play. Sometimes Minecraft doesn't update automatically. You will have to update it manually. Usually, Minecraft updates automatically on any device. Continue reading further to learn how to do it.

How to Update Minecraft Bedrock Edition

On iOS Devices:

Open up App Store on your device and
Search for Minecraft.
Minecraft will prompt you to update it. Unless it's already updated.
If you have the latest version installed, press Open and play the game.

On Android:

Open up Google Play Store on your device and
Search for Minecraft.
You will see an update button if you have purchased the game.
Click on the Update button.
Depending on your internet speed, Minecraft will download and update.
Upon completion, you will see an Open button. Press it and enjoy the game.

On Windows 10:

Open Microsoft Store
Click three dots in the top right corner.
Choose Downloads and updates.
Select Get updates.
If updates are available, it will download and install automatically.

Note: The above steps will update all installed applications, including Minecraft.

On Xbox One:

Go to My Apps & Games
Select Minecraft and press the more options button.
Then, select Manage game & add-ons option.
Finally, press the Update button and wait for it to complete.
Done!. You can sit back and enjoy the game.

Note: Any updates will be available here. If no updates are available here, your game is fully updated!

On Playstation 4:

Make sure you have logged in to the correct account on your Playstation 4 device.
Select Minecraft using the Options button.
Select Check For Update from New Menu.
If updates are available, it will download and install automatically.
Wait for the update to download. It may take some time, depending on your internet speed.

How to Update Minecraft Java Edition on PC

Start by opening the Minecraft launcher.
The launcher should automatically show you any updates.
If not, press the arrow to the right of the play button and select Latest Release.
If updates are available, it will download and install automatically.
